Evo-Wall Burning Man 2009
This is an art project I am trying to get made at Burning Man 2009. I used this package as a proposal to a Burning Man art grant. Click on the image to see them at full size or you can download the full proposal pdf. Update: I won an art grant so look for this at BM'09.
Listen to the audio tour description of my project here: Audio Tour Link.

I updated the proposal package to show the revised burn plan and some other things and also added some progress pics of the wall further down the page.

7/10/2009 - UPDATE
Things are moving quickly now and I am happy to say the most difficult portions of the project are taken care of, transportation to/from the playa and the burn barrel. Below are some pics and info of what's been done.

For transportation I give you the Mr. Majestic! He was a bus we picked up while on vacation in Montana and modified in 3 days. See his story here : The Mr. Majestic

This is the burn barrel made from 1 barrel donated by Bradley. The lid was cut out and then reused as the base plate. Tabs were cut and welded to the base plate which also helps allow the top portion to sleave into the bottom ash catch portion that keeps the pit 12" up off the playa.

A friend donated a tree for the tail portion of the wall from his back yard while out in Montana and it was chopped down in the most American way we could think of...gunfire! Shown in the videos is the shotgun shots. Also used was an AK47, AR-15 and a .44 Rifle.

These are the files I have sent out to get some cnc work done to cut the curved wall support ribs to be picked up on the 21st which is the beginning of the build week for the wood wall. The wall will be built in panels that will are framed out using the ribs shown in 1.1. They will be made to bolt together and have holes in the bases for rebar pinning to the playa. I am planning to need only hammers and wrenches for assembly on the playa.

8/11/2009 - UPDATE
Here are some wall construction progress pics and some photos of it set up in Pioneer Square for Seattle's monthly 1st Thursday Art Walk on August 6th.

Was fun having it set up in Pioneer Square for the day and had lots of people add stuff to the wall. Everything came together smoothly and so far so good. Next stop Burning Man!!

Next update may not be until after the burn!
